My 13 year old daughter is going into 8th grade and she has been nagging me to color her hair. She tells me that everyone at school is doing it and alot of her friends are too. She wants to go either Nicole Richie blonde or Ashlee Simpson blonde. I don't know if she's too young to start coloring her hair or if it won't be that big of a deal. Please tell me what you think.Thanks!

I'm in 8th grade and I colored my hair for the first time this year. If you let her, she should probably go to the hair salon to get it done, or at least so they can pick out the best color blonde. Coloring your hair blonde is the hardest color I think, especially if your hair is dark...it could come out a weird light brownish color. I don't think she is too young either, many kids are coloring their hair these days...I see little kids with their hair a different color each week. Hope I helped!

na it's not too young it's just hair coloring. As long as she does well and school and is an overall good kid then you should let her.

i think its definitely ok to color her hair, its just a matter of upkeep. i have naturally dark brown hair, and when i went blonde for awhile it got really expensive. plus i had to get my roots done or my whole head recolored every month. just take that into consideration. maybe instead of full hair color, she can do highlights, which are much less dramatic and grow out better.

the other day at the mall i saw a nine year old or there abouts with colored hair. (to young) I don't really think 13 is to young today. sometimes we have to let them do some things so they fit in, or else they look like the weirdos (not that she is) but you get what I mean. kids really are growing up to fast but we need to pick and choose the battles. Blond all the way may be too harsh, try to come to some happy medium

Has there been a time when you set a rule like no make up until you are of a certain age? If you have already said no don't give in if it is a big deal to you.

On the other hand, hair color is a fun way to express yourself. If her hair is really dark though, it may take time to get it that blonde. Good Luck!

Nah, that's not too young- that's when everyone starts! I first tried a washout in grade 7...

Take her to a hair salon so that she doesn't have a horrible experience like many do at that age. She'll likely outgrow the want for bold changes when she's older and comes into her own.
