If I take good care of my hair, should I get a perm?

I don't color, blow dry, curl, or do anything that would damage to my hair. I just shampoo, conditioner, comb my hair when it's wet (and no other time) and let it air dry in a bun. I always get complements on the texture, color, and curl of my hair but I'm looking for a low maintenance change. I don't want to cut it or color it and was hoping that a big barrel curl would add a more consistant curl than putting my hair up in a bun because that only curls the bottom. What do you think? Should I risk it?

I DONT think you should perm your hair. Sure, it would look pretty and all that... but think... you wouln't be able to do ANYTHING to your hair but ponytails, and you wouldn't be able to brush it very well, either.

My best frined has a three barrel waver. It's SO DANG BEAUTIFUL when you do your hair with it! A three barrel waver leaves your hair with EVEN curls that make your hair shine so beautifully in the light, unlike all the ugly uneven bumps that perms give you.

If you don't want to buy a three barrel waver, you can just use a 1/2 inch curling iron and rotate it while going down a strip of your hair, holding it in the same place for about eight seconds.

I like running pomade down the strand of har before using a curling iron. Don't creep out if it starts sizzling. It's not hurting your hair at ALL. Trust me. That's what I do. It looks exactly like your hair was done with a three barrel waver.

But it takes about 30 minutes to an hour using a regular curling iron. If you used pomade on every strand, it would take about 15 minutes longer. But you will NOT be dissapointed with the results! If you had three barrel waver, it would only take 15-30 minutes to do your whole hair, again add 15 minutes if your going to use pomade.

You should try it before you get your hair permed, so at least you can just wash it out if you don't like it, instead of having to live with it permanently.

Oh yes by all means. A perm will give your hair a great lift and give you more styling options since it gives the hair more flexibility (bend etc.). A barrel curl will not damage your hair either. Ask your stylist, and you should NOT perm your hair yourself, especially if this is your first time having one, ask your stylist if she would recommend a "body wave". This type of curl is not as loose as a barrel curl and should last much longer.

If you have a stylist they should be able to help you. Since you don't do anything harsh to your hair it should be fine. It's just hair and it always grows back out again! You might love it, you'll never know unless you try.

Don't perm it in case it goes wrong after all the time and effort that you have taken to look after your hair.

If you want to curl it use non heat rollers in towel dried hair with a good setting lotion and let it air dry
