Why are black women afraid to get there hair wet"?
It's not a fear. It's just knowing that you got your hair done (straightened, permed, curled..whatever) and if it gets wet, it will go back (or close to) it's natural state, which is kinda frizzy/puffy/curly. Which isn't a bad thing, but if you just had it done, it'd be a waste to get it wet so soon. For other ethnicities, their hair isn't ,for lack of a better word, puffy, like black people, unless you're mixed of course. On the other hand, some people do over dramatize "Oh my gosh! My hair's getting wet!!Ah!!!" it's not a big deal..but a lot of people do get kinda dramatic with it. Personally, if i have a perm my hair gets wavy when it's wet..which i don't mind at all...but w/o a perm it gets really curly and difficult to maintain on a daily basis...so it all depend on woman's hair(white, black, Hispanic %26amp; asian) and situation. Hope that helped.
One more thing....to CHIC411....the comment about "they shower, they're not afraid to get wet" was slightly ignorant, which is okay.....
FYI: Black people's hair is different from other ethnicities becuase it's not as oily, therefore it doesn't have to be washed daily. If a black person washes their hair every day...it MIGHT get dried out/damaged, unlike, maybe a white person.
Why are black women afraid to get there hair wet"?
First off I don't think that it is only "BLACK" women who r afraid to get their hair wet. I think it depends on A PERSONS hair texture. I happen to be a BLACK WOMAN and when my hair gets wet it appears curly (NOT NAPPY) and I have a nice texture of hair. Every culture hair texture is different. Plus if a persons hair is Permed chlorine and other chemicals in pools and lakes can affect the process of the chemical in perms.
I hope I cleared it up for you.
Why are black women afraid to get there hair wet"?
Because they will have to get their 'Hair Did' all over again
Why are black women afraid to get there hair wet"?
I have curly hair that I wear natural, but a lot of black women get relaxers or use a hot comb to straighten their hair. So, if it gets wet it reverts back to its nappy state. A lot of black women wish for good hair and are ashamed of their nappy hair.
Why are black women afraid to get there hair wet"?
Because we spend so much time perming/pressing it and water messes it up and makes it nappy/curly. My hair gets wavy but it's annoying because it's so frizzy. That's why whenever we get our hair done, it's always blown dry or pressed so it won't frizz and curl up.
