I have this type of hair too! I finally came to the realization that I had to stop fighting my hairs natural curl as this was frying the folicles! I hung up my straightener, and my blowdryer.Go and get a good trim,use products that de-frizz, make sure you really work them through your hair, srunch and let dry. Ok.. I find hanging my head upside down and then spraying it with hairspray works well.. then you flip up the right way and can clip it in place in a messy bun type style.. or even clip it to the side so its big on top and then kinda messy pony tail to the side.. it looks great. but only if your a fan of big hair..

As for makeup.. Normally dark colours bring out my eyes.. but if you have dark eyes opt for lighter shades.. For example... choose 3 matching colours in a cool rather than warm shades (black, grey and light silver or white). Apply medium shade to the eyelid. Then get a darker colour such as black and brush across the crease and slightly raise in outter corners.. use the lightest colour from your eyebrow downwards blending in with the black and waaaa laaa. apply mascara andeyeliner and done.

T-shirt doesnt really matter.. however pattern ones will draw away from your eyes and hair if you want to feature them. Plain black is always nice or even red i think would look nice with your hair. Yellow is also very bright and cheery with some dark jeans??

There is a really good shampoo by Nexxus called sumptous smoothing it works really well i dont even need conditioner. And then Matrix makes a product called instacure its for flyaways and breakage it makes ur hair really smooth preventing alot of tangles i love it u can put it in while ur hair is wet and then blowdry or a little bit after you blowdry! i highly reccommend both products! hope it works out! =]

Some people have this issue no matter what...u probably have fine textured hair huh? Well, the only thing i can advise is to run a detangler through the areas that are prone to tangling. and it's better to use a wide tooth comb, not a brush, and start at ends of hair and work up to Roots helps prevent breakage. A good detangler is Aveda's Sap Moss Detangler because it doesnt weigh down the hair. Good luck

Just make sure to not use too much because it will make your hair greasy and sometimes cause more of a problem. -Before you go to bed, squeeze a dime-sized amount of conditioner into your hand, rub them together, then lather into dry hair. Do this once every week, but dont do it in the same day that you have deep conditioned your hair.

Try this whenever you have time:

-After washing your hair with shampoo, rub conditioner into your hair; then comb through your hair, and rinse the conditioner out.

i know how i do it all the time. it takes a while though.

you can start with large hot rollers. section off you hair into about 5 peices and keep in the hot rollers for about ten minuites.

then you take a larger barrelled curling iron and curl 2" sections of your hair. ( in the direction of curling go backwards away from your face) but don't curl all the way to the bottom of the section because you want it larger on top of the curl.

after you do that then you go and use a smaller barrelled curling iorn to get the bottom into a tighter curl.

make SURE to use hairspray because this is hard to hold on thick hair

if the style is too tight then just run your fingers through it a TINY bit.

When you use big rollers, generally the goal is big spiral curls. however, when you roll your hair, roll them vertically (where the rollers are vertical compared to your hair) because if you make them horizontal on your head, you dont get curls, you just get a big hump of volumn. If you're using hot rollers then spray on some leave-in conditioner (i prefer John Frieda's leave-in condition spray) and while your rollers are on your head, spritz some hair spray on LIGHTLY. when you use big rollers, do not brush your hair out. Use a wide tooth comb, but for best results use your fingers.

You do realize that she did just say she was contemplating highlights, right? No where in her question did she say she would dye her all of her hair! I think that you should also take into consideration the amount of time you have before the wedding. You don't want it to be less than two weeks away because if you don't end up liking it, you'll pretty much be screwed. I think to be on the safe side, you should start more subtle and slightly increase the highlights to your liking. If the wedding is more than a couple weeks away, you at least have a chance to let the highlights fade a little or have them redone. Good luck and have fun at the wedding!

Nope, the colour may look great, but going from black to blonde is chemically impossible...that is too many levels for the de-colourizor to lift. Trust me I have tried 1000 times...Your hair will break off and break apart, and will comb apart, etc. Not worth it. Unless you have Asian hair, my little sis is 1/ 2 Vietnamese and I can bleach the **** out of her hair...and it keeps on kicking...But use caution with de-colourizor and thicker hair, everyone has different hair..

before you commit to the perm, you could try a straightening shampoo %26amp; condition, like Herbal Essence's Dangerously Straight. you could also buy a flat iron/hair straightener. you can get one at walmart for about $25. if none of those methods work, consult your hairdresser and see if he/she thinks the straightening perm would help or hinder your hair. if he/she doesn't think it would work out, ask him/her about other options. good luck!

I don't think it would be worth it. A relaxer can be damaging. It can be damaging if it's not applied right, if your hair isn't properly taken care in general after being relaxed, and it could possible start to break if you don't get relaxers when you need them. A relaxer does give wonderful results, but if not done right you could be left with dry, brittle, breaking damaged hair. I would suggest investing in a CERAMIC flat iron, straightening serum perhaps, and definantly some kind of heat protectant. You can flat iron your hair a few times a week (3x) and you should be able to achieve sleek smooth hair until you next wash.

On a girl with really long hair it might be worth it, but your hair is probably cut more often to keep it shorter and you will cut the permed hair and have the same problem in a couple of months anyway. Ask if your hair stylist can thin out your hair to try to cut away the thickness and that will help with the poofiness. Then try using straightening shampoo and conditioner like the new Herbal Essence or one by Pantene might help out.

i know how hard it is to use a flat iron for thick hairs.. it would take forever and your hands will ache if you wanna do it by urself... i suggest you to go for japanese straightening.. its works gr8 and the volume of your hair appears to be decreased too.. it worked for me.. its been a year i got it done and it is still straight and my hair is really long now.. 2 inches of hair shouldnt cost you much too.. try it out.. it is worth.. i love my hair now...

Yes; it is possible for you to "relax" your hair with a chemical application. Since your hair is short, you'll have to touch up your new, natural growth every 4-6 weeks. Short hair and relaxers need constant maintainance. You can do this, though. My mother had an extra short choppy hair cut at one point in her life and went to the salon every 2 weeks for styling and every month for touch ups. Her hair is also very dark and thick, unlike mine.

I asked her how much maintenace would be required for me if I were to cut my hair short and "relax" it and she said even though my hair texture is thinner and softer than hers, I'd still have to touch it up as often / make frequent salon visits.

You could also texturize your hair instead of making it entirely straight. With a texturizer, you'll still have body. Go to a Dominican salon and get a consultation. Lots of Dominican guys have short hair and texturize it. Girls, as well.

Mascara- Rimmel London Lash Maxxx (It comes in a pink and black tube. It works great, Its a little hard to get used to cause its a comb. But it still works well.)

Eyeliner- Professional Liquid Eye Liner (I like to use liquid eyeliner and penicl. Either is good.)

As for hair..

First don't brush your hair. Use a hair pick. Try using Tresemme hair product shaping milk for curls. If you blow dry your hair use a diffuser and scrunch while you dry. Than use a light hair spray and scrunch again.

Alot of what you should do depends upon what your doing now... if you are going lighter, then refrain from pulling the colour through the ends of the hair there is no benefit to this and the porosity will increase each time it is done. I had super damaged hair from over bleeching but my hair bounced back when I changed hairdressers and started spending money on higher qualities on products.

If you can take it avoid blowdrying your hair or limit it at least.

If you dye your hair alot, leave your hair alone and wait to dye it atleast 3 years later or so. Hair dye has terrible chemicals that kill dry/damage your hair.

Brush your hair before shampooing and conditioner so your hair won't be tangeled and managable.

Don't wash your hair everyday try 3 times a week, Washing hair everyday strips the natural oils of your hair into duller dry hair.

Discontinue to heat style your hair or your hair will end up more dry/damaged, wait till it's completely healthy and maybe heat style once a week.

Avoid brushing hair while wet, gently use a wide tooth comb, hair is very vulnerable while wet and can break off easily.

Don't put your hair into pigtails, buns or ponytails while wet, that causes split ends, breakage and damage.

Deep condition twice a week to bring back moisture to your hair.

Trim your hair tips every 4-6 weeks to promote healthy hair grow and prevent split ends from happening.

While shampooing massage your scalp with your fingertips slowly, not with your nails, nails damage the scalp and nails tend to be dirty. it's not necessary to shampoo the ends, then rinse with warm water to open the hair cuticles.

If your in the sun alot buy a cap or a hoodie to protect your hair from the sun, heat damages and drys out your hair.

Buy a leave-in-conditioner/leave-in conditioner/creme to moisturize your hair all day long and don't rinse.

After your out of the shower set your blowdryer on cool setting and blowdryer your hair for 2 minutes, this will help seal the hair cuticles for a smooth shiny surface.

The blowdrying itself is a big mistake after the hair treatments. You should've start from one hair treatment and not simultaneous with other treatments. Take your Vitamins, especially Vit D and E.

Apply mineral oils, to strengthen your hair. Cutting the ends of the hair won't do you any good.

I think the key is good product. there is a big difference between the salon sort and the supermarket sort. I used to use supermarket shampoo - pantene or whatever - and have quite dry/tending to frizzy/brittle hair which i colour as well. and after marvelling recently how soft/silky/straight my hair is after the salon, despite the fact that they blow dry it and all sorts - i asked a lot of questions about how it never feels like that for me at home. first question they asked me what shampoo i used and when i said pantene/supermarket brands - they suggested i try the same sort they use in the salon. this is called evokativ smooth shampoo (and conditioner, the brand is Sebastian. ) About $30 per product. and that i would notice a huge difference by this alone (I did.)

the next thing they used when styling, was crema styler 'anti frizz control with shine' (also sebastian). she mixed this with a few drops of laminates drops, a clear silicone-based gloss. I use that now before styling and the hair is able to be straightened with an iron or blow dried straight and still has a lovely soft texture, none of the brittle/dry/damaged it used to feel like. I am sure the sebastian is just one range of many with quality products but i stress it is a salon brand not a supermarket brand, get your hairdresser to advise.

You didn't say but I'm thinking that you want to straighten your hair. Why are you against a relaxer? But since you are, you probably should invest in a really good straightening iron. A Chi Iron might really work for you. If your hair is dry and brittle you probably need to try a new routine for maintaining your hair. Try washing it more often, while deep conditioning every time. And when you deep condition, try putting on a shower cap and sitting under a hooded hairdryer for 15 minutes.

Well I am an African American to and I think that you should perm it every other week and straighten it, the weeks between the perm week wash it. There is nothing really wrong with relaxing it. A relaxer will not make your hair fall out if you take care of it. Other than that though you will have to straighten it either with a flat iron or getting it pressed(straighting iron). Wrapping it at night helps to keep it straight longer. Make sure you use a deep conditioner when you wash it. You should do that at least every 2 weeks. I would suggest using Bric once a month, it works wonders. I use love it.

Steam your roller and then place it a little less than halfway down the length of your hair. Now spiral the loose end of your hair around it until you get to the end, then roll the roller back up toward your scalp (that's why you start at about the halfway point of your hair). After your hair is set finger tousle or lightly comb your hair. Don't brush it! You'll brush the curls out. This method will get you gorgeous spiral curls.

DO NOT USE A BOX COLOR.

take it from a cosmetologist. its the worst decision youcan make for the following reasons:

1.) its damn near impossible to remove from the hair if you ever decide to go lighter.

2.) your highlights may turn green, purple or muddy brown because they have no pigment in the hair.

3.) you haveto be careful with terms like "mahongany". its a dark color and could potentially be very dark if youre coloring over color.

please go back to your salon to get it professionally done because if it comes out terrible, color correction is a VERY expensive procedure.

if you hav a curling iron make sure the heat is on HI then hold it for about a minute. while the hairs on the iron spritz a lil hairspray on it. also at salons and beauty colleges they can give you a permanent curl, those big loose curls you were talking about just describe it or bring in a pic. and they can do it. plus thers cute styles u can do without curls but they are nice to hav.

what i do is buy some hot rollers [ they work really great ] and plug them in for about 15-20 mins before you go to bed. take a comb and hairspray the parts BEFORE you put them in. keep them in overnight and in the morning you will have lucious locks. just add some light hairspray in the morning if it frizzes or to keep the volume.

It'll curl better if you do it wet. It takes a while to dry, but use rollers like the little old ladies use. You can get them in any size you want. Wet styling is stronger and lasts longer than heat styling. Hope that helps.

I think that if your got your hair done short, you would miss it, and it takes a long time to grow back. Perhaps in stead of cutting in short, just add shorter layers on top. Have fun with it! It usually turns out really cute on people!

BUT, it's your hair, and if you want it short, cut it. just ask the stylist what would suite you better. he/she can always cut a little (like layers), then if you say shorter, then cut it shorter. you can always take off, just can't put back on.

That is true, I ran into that same situation. I wanted to cut my beautiful hair, but I got alo of rejections because of my face shape. Anyone with a fat, cubby, or strongly featured face, shouldnt wear short hair. Short hair only looks really good on people with thin faces, in my oppinion.
