How should I dye my hair?

Right now I have a weird color hair (natural though). It's like a mix between blonde/dirty blonde/redish(not really but i have strawberry blonde hair some times during certain seasons)

it may sound cute but i am really bored with it and i think it makes me look dull. like, my skin is somewhat fair..i mean i'm not too tan. and i have big brown eyes.

i was thinking of dying my hair like an auburn color? like redish brown. do you think that would look cute? by the way my hair is kinda long and i have straight across bangs that i'm turning into side bangs.

do you think i should choose this color? i want to go darker, not lighter. plus i have dark eyebrows so lighter would look funny.

and what brand should i use? like..what should i use to dye it? because i'm dying it myself not professionally. so its okay if its not a drastic change.

get what i'm saying? hehe

I think you should dye it however you want.

That sound's like a nice colour anyways.

Have fun with your hair- you can just try different things with your hair.

Use Nice-n-Easy dye.

That one works really well.

ya, i think an auburn-ish color would be pretty. i'm a natural brunette but i change my hair color every couple of months, and right now im an auburn red too.

but here's the thing, it's going to be very difficult to make your hair the color that your imagining it yourself. because when you go buy an at home hair dye kit, and you see a pretty shade that you like on the cover of a box, you'll pick it up and be like "yes, this looks great and the steps sound easy!" but you have to take into account that every natural color is going to take ahold of hairdye differently. the boxes usually have a little chart somewhere that is like "if your hair is blonde, this will be your expected result" and then have a picture of a color close to what yours will become. and it'll have like dark brown and light brown with thier "to be expected" pics too. and the thing you'll have to understand is that the pretty, lush auburn/auburny brown color seen on the boxes are usually the results of a light/dark brown natural color, not blonde.

so if you're going to do it at home, be super carefuland make SURE you spread it throughout evenly!! and if you leave it in too long it will be waay too orangey-red, and if you leave it in too little, it will be strawberry blonde. a had a blonde friend do an at home red and it turned strawberry and then the next night she decided to it again to make it darker, but instead of becoming 'darker' it turned orange.

not good.

my suggestion would be to go to a professional. i think you'll be thankful if you do and regretful if you dont.

BUT good luck! and as for a brand, if you see a Loreal color kit, they're usually good. they're what i use when i do at home dyes when i go back from auburn to brown. also, i would look for a semi-permanent as opposd to peramnant, because if you DO end up with a color you're not crazy about, it will fade out after about 30 washes.

I would go to a salon and have them put a semi or demi permanent color in your hair first. Sometimes what we see in our heads don't turn out the same in real life. Professional semi colors are gentle, and wash out alot easier than drugstore brands. Try a Fantastic Sams, or Supercuts. The prices shouldn't be that horrible.

With your skin tone and eye color, I think a medium auburn would look great. Especially with the side bangs to enhance your eyes. Reds look great with a lighter skin tone. Good choice.

If you can't go to a stylist, then try Sally's. At least they sell professional colors there. I just don't trust boxed color. I've had to fix so many bad dye jobs over the years.
