My 3 year old daughter is black/filipino. Need advice on how to straighten her hair.?

I just bought a $65 flat iron for her but when I washed, blow dried, and straightened her hair it was still very frizzy and big. I didn't apply any cream or oil to her hair while I was doing it. Should I have done this? And what kind of products would be best to use? Where can I buy?

in my opinion your daughter very Young to make any thing to her hair. any product you can use in this may cause permanent damage for her hair

She's only three... maybe you should jut let her hair be curly, and worry about a different heirstyle when she's old enough to care.

You have to make sure the flat iron is ceramic and gets to atleast 300 degrees. Otherwise, you are wasting your time. My hair is very curly even though I am not bi-racial. I use a spritz by Matrix in an orange bottle, and spray each section with it before straightening. Then I use a small amount of shine serum by Paul Mitchell when I am finished. My hair goes bone straight after all that.

It is better not to attempt any straightening on your daughter's hair yet. She is still young and the scalp is still very tender.

Maybe at three you should just let her hair be what it is and teach her she is beautiful the way she is.

Why? Is she ashamed of who she (see you) is?

Seems like this is awfully young to use heat or chemicals. You have to use a cream or moisturizer of some sort if the hair is really curly. The reason for this is the curlier the hair, the FLATTER the hair and where most white people have straighter hair, our hair is like a straw. Our hair gets too oily because it is ROUND and like a straw. So the curlier the hair, the flatter it is which is why you have to add oil. If you use a flat iron with no product, it will break the child's hair off and dry it out. There is a great product with a big Hemp leaf on the front, at good beauty supply places. Not only is their lotion fab but they have this oil that gives a sheen and is incredible. My Af. Amer niece is with me now, and I used it on her. Amazing!

I used to have my toddler niece live with me, she is African American and I kept it braided most of the time in the summer for swimming and ease, but found the best way to make it look smooth for say...a pony tail was to use hot water and the Black children's hair care products. Plus it would give the pony tail itself sheen and nice curls, not dry and frizzy. There are some wonderful products out there that aren't the old fashioned "grease". They condition as well as help tame.

Of course now the style is to let it be curly and put some nice sheen products in it so it isn't frizzy. I think that is darling! Good Luck!

I wouldn't use heat on her hair yet. Are you trying to straighten it so it's more manageable? If so, instead of using heat (which will damage her hair) just keep her hair well moisturized %26amp; it should be easier to handle. I'm black/white %26amp; my hair is thick %26amp; I find it easy to manage if I wet it a bit %26amp; add a mositurizer like pink oil or optium's 3 in 1 moisturizer.

Good Luck!

This is what you need:

Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Hair Serum, you put it in your hair when it's wet and smooth through after that, blow dry your hair it cuts down the drying time as well.

After that you need Sleek.Look smoothing system iron smoother! You sprits this on your hair piece by piece and straighten it with a hair straightner and not some cheap one either.

You can purchase these at almost any hair salon and even on ebay sometimes you can find it cheaper on ebay then what you'd purchase it at in a store.

Because she is so uoung, I am suggesting that she wears her hair plated or in a ponytail. Besides she really does not care about if it is straight or curly.

YOU SHOULD NOT USE A BLOW DRYER OR FLAT IRON ON HER HAIR SHE IS ONLY 3 AND SHE SHOULD HAVE A GREAT GRADE OF HAIR. ALL YOU NEED WAS A CREAM AND A BRUSH AND COMB. YOU DID NOT STATE HOW DOES SHE WEAR HER HAIR. PONTTAILS OR WHAT. HER HAIR DOES NOT NEED ANY HEAT.
