i had the same thing, i used a hair product for straigtening and it was like my hair was paper thin and straight. it was amazing, considering i have curly huge hair. :D try finding a good one, it might be a little pricey but it will work.

p.s. chemically straightening hair is bad for it. i know someone who did and she is seriously balding.

First you need to address why your hair is so poofy in the first place - it's dry. Try deep conditioning it for 2 weeks in a row (like on Sunday) and then see how it is after that. Make sure to follow the directions and keep a heated towel on your head so as to lock in the moisture. What I do is take a plastic bag (from Wal-Mart or something, but a shower cap would work equally well) and wrap it on my hair after applying the cream. Then wet and heat a small towel in the microwave for 20-30 seconds and put on your head (if it's not too hot).

A good conditioner that worked for me was Redken All Soft Heavy Cream. Used just one or two times you will see a HUGE difference.

And then after you take a shower, put about a nickel size drop of "Biosilk Silk Therapy" in your hair. It will make it verrry soft!

I would recommend getting a professional straightener they are pricey about $100.00 but they work soo good. and when you straighten it, spray some hairspray on it(not a lot just a little spray)and that might help the frizz. try using pantene pro-v shampoo and conditioner, I have curly hair(underneath)and that stuff works awesome. you could also try blow drying it straight.
